Creating a usable tool with sophisticated functionality such as building presentations online required extensive Interaction Design and Information Architecture work up front. I created many iterations of sitemaps and screen schematics before the first line of code was written for this application. This helped the team vet out many potential problems before investing too heavily in the development cycle.
